Awesome little place that we found by accident while running away from the rain.
    It was great food!
The starters: hot goat cheese and the quiche were very good.
And the mains: the veal and the beef were perfectly cooked.
Highly recommend this quirky little place with very good prices for Paris.

Such a great hidden gem! Not sure why another reviewer said this is "not for americans". I'm a Brazilian living in Canada (and my French is laughable, btw), and this is one of the places I felt the most welcome in Europe so far. Just know what to expect: this is a rustic place aimed for locals. The owner doesn't speak English (though one waiter did, to be fair), you won't get an English menu (or maybe a menu at all), and they don't take credit cards. And that's what makes it so great! You'll have an authentic experience without the bullshit aimed for tourists. If none of this sounds appealing to you, I suggest you stop reading this review and avoid the place.

Food wasn't fancy, but tasted great, fresh and authentic. Everything is dirty cheap, costing less than 35 euros for a 3-course meal with lots of wine. During the two times I visited the place, had a great chat with a local who I will keep in touch with, didn't have enough cash to pay my bill and they were completely cool with it (I obviously came back later and payed what I owed), owner opened the place just because of us, and got liqueur and cheese for free. What more could I ask for? :-)

If you're not afraid of a truly authentic experience, go ahead and give it a try!

Gérard is incredible. This place is my personal mecca every time I visit Paris. A welcome escape from the thousands of 'tourist safe' restaurants with identical menus, decor, service, and attitude. Yes, it is a local family owned bar, and as such you need to leave your impatience and judgements at the door. You will be well rewarded if the kitchen hasn't sold out of the specials, which it does every day. Oh, and Gérard not only owns the place, he cooks everything, as well as runs the bar, so the level of pride and attention to detail is unsurpassed.

Not for Americans.  There were lots of tables, lots of staff and no one would wait on us.  We left. They acted like it was a blessing!
